Dieldrin is a persistent organochlorine
pesticide (see POPs) which was phased out between
1974 and 1987. It is extremely persistent in the environment and has
a high potential for bioaccumulation in fish. Long term exposure to
dieldrin can lead to cancer of the liver and harmful effects on the
