Welcome to Fishinglink's Education Center.

Fish and other aquatic delicacies can contain levels of toxins high enough to cause concern. It is difficult if not impossible to know the level or types of toxins in fish by casual examination or by taste. Some general rules often apply, like when all other things are equal, larger predacious fish are more likely to have higher levels of toxins. Tuna and swordfish can carry high enough levels of mercury to be of concern to pregnant women and small children. This site is designed to provide information on the types of toxins likely to be encountered as well as information about those toxins. To get more information about a particular toxin click on its button and a page with the description of the toxin will be displayed. If you have information about the quality of the fish in your area please fell free to email that information here to the Education Center.
